This March, Celebrate Women in Wine

This Women's History Month, join Mercado Little Spain as we celebrate the passion and creativity of the women behind the wineries with weekly tastings and an intimate wine dinner.

Each Wednesday in March, Mercado's own Beverage Director, Madeline Maldonado, and our team will be pouring wines from a variety of female winemakers, female-led vineyards, and female industry leaders from across Spain.  From 6:00 PM to 8:00PM, join brand ambassadors in BarCelona to taste and learn about each wineries and the special women behind them.

  • March 6: Marta Casa & Maria Elena Jimenéz from Parés Baltá; Marta Castro Pintos from Lagar de Pintos Albariño; and Araceli González Martínez from Senorio Barahonda
  • March 13: Blanca Ozcariz Raventós from El Jardí del Sentits; Mercedes García Rupérez from Bodegas Montecillo; and Marta Plana from The WineTones
  • March 20: Sonia Costa from Lagar de Costa; Concha Vecino from Bodegas Nekeas; Melanie Hickman from Bodegas Bhilar; Almudena Calvo from Pago de los Carraovejas; María Vargas from Marqués de Murrieta; Paola Medina from Williams & Humbert Sherry; and Laura Montero from Viña Meín

Join us for an intimate dinner at Leña with Martina Prieto Pariente from Bodegas José Pariente in Rueda.

A family winery founded in 1998, José Pariente is renowned for his respect for the vineyard, commitment to sustainability, and engagement in various research projects.

Today, Martina Prieto Pariente maintains the commitment instilled by her mother, Victoria Pariente who founded the winery after her father, José Pariente.  Martina continues to expand the values of her ancestors with her never-ending search for excellence in her work.

This multi-course dinner will pair five curated wines, including two whites, two reds, and a sweet wine, with both classic Leña offerings like our Chuletillas de Cordero, as well as interesting new dishes, such as a grilled Ibérico pork shoulder.
